Ice, Home Care - Lanier Chiro


Recommendations for Home Care,
ICE
  • Do initially at time of injury and for the next three days.
  • 15 minutes on, then 30 - 60 minutes off. Repeat 3 to 5 times daily for 3 days.
  • Do NOT sleep with ice.
  • There is no physiological benefit to keeping ice on for more than 20 minutes.
  • To make your own ice pack:
    Fill a gallon size Ziplock Bag with 2 cups water and 1 cup rubbing alcohol. Seal and place in a second bag, getting as much air as you can out of each bag as you close them.  Place in freezer until needed.
